Working together for a low carbon Portishead

Community Allotment

We have a plot on the Town Council's new allotments on Clevedon Road.

The community allotment has worked well for the first season with good crops of beans, courgettes, and brassicas.

Around ten people are involved and they meet on Thursdays from 5:30pm (summer) and on Sunday mornings (all year) from 9:00am. The plot is the furthest from the road on the left.

Regular meetings are held to plan future planting and discuss and organise developments such as raised beds and other improvements.

If you would like to be involved please email us or call Ann on 01275 845206.

Community Nuttery

In February 2011 we planted more than 50 nut trees at the Community Nuttery at Welly Bottom off Avon Way. We will be having regular work parties to weed around the new trees and to do further planting. The trees have all been donated mainly from peoples gardens..if you have any hazel, walnut, sweet chestnut, or other nut trees in your garden that you would like to donate please contact us.

The Nuttery is a partnership project with Portishead in Bloom who are helping with practical support.
